I was told that Beamish was a boring place, I wasn’t really looking forward to this trip, but after being there, hey it wasn’t that bad after all. I think I’ve mentioned it here before, Beamishis an open air museum, 25m drive from Sunderland. Why is it open air? The entire Beamish, is like during the 1800s, ppl workin there dress like the 1800s, buildings, cars, food, yadaa yadaa. So we’re like modern age beings in the olden days.

The first place we headed to was the town. The town was pretty decent, it really did portray the 1800s. The gentleman seen standing here is the man who maneuvers the train. I went in to the confectionery store, lots of chocolates, thought of buying some for my sister, but I didn’t have much cash with me, and they weren’t cheap >.<;; We basically went in to every single store, there were dentist, music learning centre, bank, cafeteria, bla bla..
Next we headed down south to the railway station. There we started our first game, Mystery Murder. So, our guide, Miss Rice was the conductor of the game. It was like a role-playing sorta game. She was known as Detective Rice, and we’re her little detectives to help in an investigation. So it here how it went,
A couple of hours ago, an old lady witnessed a fight between two men in the station. As she rushed to the scene, both the men were no where in sight. A while later, as she entered the ladies’ room, she saw a man sprawled on the floor, motionless. She then reported the incident to Detective Rice.

There were five evidences left at the crime scene. We were divided into group of.. well Detective Rice asked us to divide ourselves into groups of 3, but somehow some groups decided to have 5 in a group. So we’re pretty messy with the groupings. My group consists of 3 of us, Me, Sheryl, Sheryl. Each group was supposed to grab an evidence, but due to the messy groupings, my group and Ken’s group did 2evidences. One of the evidence which my group chose led us to the music learning centre, to speak with Flourence. The other evidence was a small envelope with a tooth in it from Jones Dentistry. So my group was assigned to these 2 locations for investigations, whilst other groups to different places, print shop, bank, garrage, bla bla. The mystery was rather simple, 2 men were seen fighting, 1 man known as John Smith, an aggressive gambler, who’s obviously the suspect killed Charles XXX coz it was Charles’s payday.
Simple game eh.. The game didn’t last too long, for like an hour or so, then we walked by ourselves, we went to the farm, lots of wandering geese. Bulls, horses, pigs, chickens, bla bla.. things u usually see in a farm.

Then we headed to the Colliery Village, to have our very first Victorian School. Thank god I wasn’t born on that era eh, the school systems was really strict. Sit straight, always refer the teacher as mom/mum. Punishments were pretty severe, awards were stupid. =p Good students get to sit near the fireplace, ye, that’s the reward =p. So in class, I did my 12x timestable, and some addition arithmetics. Pretty interesting, oh btw, my teacher was Miss Rice. She’s definitely multi-tasking.
Our journey in Beamish pretty much ended at the Waggonway & Pockerley Manor. Nothing really fascinating in these two stops. Oh, there was this lady in the Cathedral sewing laces¬ *wow*. It’s definitely not an easy job.. She was using, definitely if not more than 40needles. O.o Then we had a mini trip into the mine, meh, boring and wet.. Miners made pretty big £ back then, but they had to work in such an adverse condition.. with limited illumination. pity them.
The entire trip lasted till like 5pm, I was absolutely knackered by the time we got back to Sunderland but nonetheless, it was an eye opening experience. The way the museum was kept and the workers really did try to portray the 1800s atmosphere.
