Valentine’s Day

Geoff treated me to V-day dinner at Rock.n’Amigos. Dinner was like usual, fantastic! おいしかったにゃー~(=^・・^)ノ>°)##)彡 We got there about 6.05pm, reservation was at 6.00pm, 5m late, eek. The restaurant was rather empty, I was surprised, in KL everywhere get filled up quickly. Geoff ordered the same stuff, steak fajitas, and I ordered Mexican Chicken, starter was nachos as usual.

Food was served rather quickly, probably because there weren’t many ppl yet.

Nachos topped with melted cheese, yum! Geoff always picked the nachos which were covered with cheese and left the un-cheesed nachos to me (●`ε´●) ぶー.

Steak fajitas *yum*

My meal (^^) Mexican Chicken - Chicken was cooked just right, juicy and sweet. One of my favourite in Rock.n’Amigos.

We usually stop ordering at this point, but since it’s Valentine’s Day, we had desserts as well. Geoff had Grandmom’s Apple Pie & I had Chocolate Brownie.

chocolate-brownie.jpg brownie_close.jpg

This was REALLY GOOD! Very chocolatish but not very sweet! I <3 it! ( ~ё ̄) -☆ However, I didn’t mange to finish it, u know brownies are filling. Felt a little sad that half of it went to waste “(ノ_・、)” at the same time I didn’t wanna force my stomach.

At the end of the meal, we were given 2 heart shaped chocolates ^^)v

Overall, food was good, even tho it wasn’t something new to me. That’s probably my 5th time or so dining in Rock.n’Amigos but who cares right, good food > new environment.

As for me, I got him a new car stereo for his V-day gift.

His current player is locked, after he replaced the old car battery with a new 1. Some code is needed to unlock the player, and since this car is a 2nd hand car, he doesn’t know the code and has no choice but to buy a new player. This stereo actually cost £99 but he had £50 vouchers from his ex-colleagues before he left the job, so I just paid £49 ^^) It’s a good bargain I’d say. We saw some other cool players by Pioneer, Sony, LG and stuff but they’re so expensive, I think more expensive that Malaysia. I don’t know where is the origin of Ripspeed, but it seems like a big company manufacturing lots of car accessories/parts.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Wee, it’s the year of rat! Wishing u all a happy-ratty-year! I hope the Chung family will be visiting all of you¬ The family members will include …
Chung Ma Piew (strike Big Sweep)
Chung Tai Choy (strike big prosperity e.g. big business contract)
Chung Man Chee (strike 4D)

They will be wishing you Good Luck and Prosperity for the whole year.
Don’t worry, two of the family members will not be visiting.

Chung Sum Mann (being issued summons e.g. traffic summons) and
Chung Fan Shee (plant sweet potatoes meaning life expired)
since they will be out of town for the whole of 2008. (Credit to whoever wrote this)

CNY for me was ugh, I wish I was back home-playing mahjong/poker/blackjack with my family-relatives & friends. (T-T )( T-T) ウルウルI spent like 2hrs celebrating CNY in Stadium of Light. They had some performances-lion dance, wushu, and some other dances, and they were promoting Beijing Olympic 2008. Sounded like China were seizing this opportunity to grab more tourists to Beijing due to Olympic. IMO, it’s pretty silly to have such ‘advert’ during CNY dinner. All of us were basically there for the food, seeing that we paid £7 to enter, and the food was ugh and insufficient! We were only given a plate of meal =.-. Stingy ¬no CNY atmosphere! Most of us left right after we finished eating ;p

My hair was being messed up by Melissa =.-

My CNY dinner (T-T). Once again, thx to Sheryl LLJ for the pics!

Good morning world!

morning.jpg

7.58am and it’s about time to head to school. Weather has been tolerable lately, breezy and a little chilly, doesn’t feel like winter. Seems like we missed the winter, and we’re heading into spring.. global warming O.o?

snow_sunderland.jpg

Picture courtesy of Sheryl LLJIt snowed a little in Sunderland the other day, but not enough for me to make a snowman. The days after were hit with strong wind =.- I almost got blown away, never have I lost to the wind before ゛(ノ><)ノ

Chinese New Year is around the corner, going to miss the celebration back in homecountry (ノ_<。)うっうっうっ. There’s going to be a celebration in the Stadium of Light on Wednesday, I hope it’ll make me feel at home (^_^)Mom and sis sent me some CNY gifts v(^o^ )ー~) ニヤ, well not really some, it’s actually a lot! 25kg of stuff! ( ;°o°)/

biscuits.jpg

Mom actually sent 5 boxes of CNY biscuits - nutty biscuits, pineapple tarts, 2x ngaku & white biscuit(don’t know its name) but Geoff finished a box of ngaku & white biscuit.

scarves.jpg

My sister knitted these (⌒.-)=★ Love these scarves, keep me really warm, there’s another 1 missing in the pic, Geoff was using it and left it on the couch.

stock.jpg

Jeng-jeng, my food supply! Lots of spicy Korean instant noodles, some cans of gravy granules, herbs, sweet&sour sauce, miso soup cubes, seaweed, cookies etc. This can last me probably 2-3months. That box of homepride flour has been there since Oct of last year, ;p Geoff bought it coz he wanted me to bake cake.

I<3 those Korean noodles, it makes me sweat every time I have them-good to keep me warm! v(≧∇≦)v

Sick before Christmas

For the past 3days Geoff & I have been lying on the bed, yes we’ve both fallen ill at the same time. It’s probably becoz we were caught under the rain after dinner on Saturday + the amount of chocolates that we took.. eek. Anyway, we’re both feeling much better now, fit to get back to work. Geoff brought me to Dynasty Buffet in Durham on Saturday for some Chinese buffet. Food was… well made for the English =p nothing like what we have back in Asia but nonetheless it was still worth the money. £9 eat all u can, with over 30choices, that’s pretty damn good I’d say. My favourite dish was this crispy sweetened seaweed. I don’t know how they made it, but I’m guessing they just dump a whole lot of sugar on the seaweed and fried them slowly. Out of the 30+ dishes served there, only about 10% were vegetable based. Others were like black pepper chicken/beef, mushroom beef/chicken, ginger beef/chicken + lots of spring rolls, they even served fried spring roll wraps, ewk.. just fried wraps w/ nothing in it.. ugh.. Geoff likes it tho =p

We’ve been putting up Christmas decorations bits by bits, spent a lot on Christmas stuff as well, think we spent like £180 the other day… ugh.. Christmas. Anyway, we’re working on the decos, not too great yet, need more snowsprays

xmas2.jpg

Brand new Christmas tree is up. Well, ignore the cheapy legs and pathetic mini angel on top of the tree. I chose the angel, thot it looked cute and fluffy, but it didn’t go so well with the tree.

xmas.jpg

Now, walaa the real Christmas tree, Geoff replaced the angel with the squishy boink-ish star, hm.. looks a little silly imo.

xmas1.jpg

We’re working on the balcony. We are planning to fill this part with all the decos we have, seeing that this bit of the room faces the main street, everyone will be seeing our windows when entering the street ;)

windows.jpg

I printed a snowflake story on this window, *snowman was angry of the x’mas tree which grew in front of his house blocking the feng shui, so he took a broom out n swept the tree off =P*

clock.jpg

The wall clock needs some deco too, well Geoff said that.

We stopped working on the decos for now, seeing that we’re both ill. Wind is extremely strong outside, and I have to crawl to school tomorrow. My throat still hurts, and I’m still having a slight headache, hope everything will be fine by tomorrow morning. It’s getting late so I’m off to bed.

Life as a science student, possible future scientist?

Hey, I’m back! Haven’t posted in ages, *points at title*. Been so busy lately, projects/reports/assignment/reports/projects. I have classes from 9am mostly everyday, and usually get back home at 5-6pm. Like even when some days my lectures end at 12pm or 2pm, I still have to stay back in the lab till 5pm for my project.

So we’ve progressed into the 7th day since we started w/ our projects. And just recently, we found out that our methods were inappropriate O.o So we had to start from fresh using a new method. Ughhhh frustrating? well slightly. But it’s always good to have mistakes, like what Barry said, the more mistakes we do, do more we understand.

The horrible thing was that, every time after getting home, say 6pm, well when I was in Malaysia, I had my dearest mom to take care of me, I didn’t have to care bout food, it’s always there whenever I needed it. This time, all I can do was look at myself n push myself to cook. But lucky me, I don’t have to hover the house and stuff. Geoff does those ;). It’s good to have a bf who is tidy ahhaha, every time I mess things up he’s here to clean up. Only at times where he gets really fussy n whiny bout me putting my bag on the sofa.

We’ve moved things around a little in the living room. Bought 2 desks a couple of days ago, took us the entire saturday to build them >.<” + It’s like a month more to Christmas, but Geoff seems to be already in the Christmas mood, so am I. This is the first time I’m going to have a proper Christmas celebration. We have Christmas tree up and some Christmas lights, but I’m not going to post the pictures just yet. Geoff’s dad did mention to put it up like 9 days before xmas, but Geoff himself is being impatient =p. I need to learn to cook turkey, ugh, need to lookup for recipes ^^;;

Tomorrow we’re going to Durham for a study trip to some brewery. Durham, =P it’s like my 2nd hometown ^^

Malaysian society gathering

The whole bunch of us including the odd Geoff attended a gathering organised by the Malaysian Society. It was just a rather simple dinner in Leisure Centre, pretty much like Chinese styled restaurant, few round tables-a stage.. Tbh, we were there for the food only. Well, we paid £4 for registration, we’re obviously not there for the performances, what else do u think we, poor students were there for =P. Both Sheryls, Sarav n I had our plates piled up =P.. The food was so so, obiviously not as good as back home, but still edible.. Performance was.. I don’t know lol.. the stage was kinda pathetic..  then they had some games, just like the usual gathering agenda. We left rather early.. like 10pm-ish.. Went to look for a pub to play pool. Jesus christ, pubs here r like Canteena =P Old-man pubs… we passed by The Point, we wanted to go out, but Geoff doesn’t like clubbing, so we ended up in Sunderland.. something.. Sunderland Bistro or something.. That pub *bleh* was pretty much like Coliseum back in KL. Too bad I didn’t manage to take any pictures, due to the fact that I do not have a camera =(

I’ve been scoping around for digital cameras lately. Check this out Fuji Finepix S5700, 10x optical zoom =O 7mp, for just RM700 + delivery! =P well slightly cheaper than Malaysia, I think this camera costs about RM1000. So certain things like mobile phones r cheap that’s if u sign contract which isn’t very beneficial to us 1-year student. Food, no way… shirt, winter wear yes.. strawberries? definitely. I bought 2 boxes of strawberries for £1 this morning ;)

I went to the Chinese shop again after class.. well it’s actually called Aroma.. something lol, we called it the Chinese shop. Bought chinese soy sauce, sweet n sour sauce + black thick sauce.. for £3. Gonna fry rice sometime soon. I’m definitely improving in cooking. These are what I’ve made for the past few days.

steak.jpg

2 sirloin steak for £5 in Tesco. Bought some seasoning to marinate the steak + potatoes. Walaa, a perfect meal.. ish.. Geoff said it was really good.. I like bloody medium rare steak, this was bloodless well-cooked steak =/

sushi.jpg

First attempt on making sushi. Turned out ugh, the rice was too soft again.. What is wrong w/ the rice cooker!! I guess this time, I’m just gonna put 1table spoon of water for 2cups of rice. HMFT! The egg however was good, =D I kinda like it, I’m gonna try to make more n put in the fridge for breakfast =>

Then yesterday, went over to Sheryls’ place to eat nasi lemak. That was how we celerated our Hari Raya. The rice turned out pretty ok, the curry was like Chinese styled watery curry ahaha, but nonetheless still a perfect meat. After that, Geoff n I went over to his parents’ place, coz his dad needed help to get his laptop connected to the router. So, it’s Mr.Wade’s birthday on the 22nd. =D Going out for dinner.. yey yey!!

Now I’m gonna prepare dinner, just boring hamburger + chips. Toodles

Sister’s Birthday Party & My Farewell Party

Yesterday was a blast! My house was totally packed w/bout 30+ ppl who were here for my sis’s birthday + my farewell party. Well, my sister’s birthday is on the 17th, but she decided to have an early party before I leave. Most of my relatives were here including my cousin brother, Chai Ween, who just came back from Ireland. My friends were just Kevin, Ming and Emily. Oh and not forgetting Kok Beng. A friend whom I’ve not seen for 12years. We used to play together a lot when he was 7, I was 9 at that time. It’s good to meet up with friends whom I’ve not seen in ages, but it’s kinda depressing  at the same time.. since I’m leaving, so there isn’t any chance for me to spend more time with them.. =( Leona was supposed to come, but she couldn’t seem to get a day off from her dad or something. I’m pretty much saddened by that =( Well, I’ve not seen that girl in ages, and she’s my close friend since high school. Kinda miss her to be honest and not forgetting Charissa =( sad that my close friends are not here to hang out with me before I leave.

Anyways, *wipes tears* The entire party was tiring, the food was fantastic. Barbaque was sucky, like usual. It was firstly just barbaque, but mom decided to cook so everyone ended up just eating mom’s food. Barbaque was left for the flies.. >.>

Farewell party

I didn’t get a chance to try every dish that my mom cooked, was pretty busy serving guests + entertaining my little nieces. The whole thing ended about 11-ish, did some cleanups, and played a bit of Xbox 360, took some pictures with Kev, Ming and Emily before heading out to eat Sai mai loh in SS2.

Farewell

=P yeye, I know I looked silly, was promoting my mom’s fried wanton. We took that pic in the kitchen, that’s actually a reflection on my mirrored refrigerator.

Farewell2

Another silly picture =P

farewellkitchen.jpg

I got home bout 3am after the yumcha session. Kev stayed over night in my place coz we had another gathering the day after with Billy and Yen Kheng. He’s pretty lucky, he got the largest space + largest TV in the house that night. Yep, u guessed it right, the living hall =P Hey, who wouldn’t want to have a free security guard, even if it’s just for 1 night. As for me, I went to bed like 3.30am-ish, and my baka woke me up at 4 something ish. I missed him a lot, wish he was here to celebrate with me, would make everything more meaningful. I talked to him for a couple of minutes and I fell asleep =X yeye, I’m a pig.. oink.

The next day, Billy woke me up and I was like, o crap I’m late. Rushed to get ready and stuff just to find Kev was still taking his shower.. It was 11.30 at that time, and we’re supposed to meet up at 11.00am >.>. Reached 1U, Yen Kheng & Billy were already waiting for us. Had lunch buffet in Shogun. Wow, there were so many various Japanese dishes, for just $55, it’s so worth it IMO. If only Geoffy was there, he would have just kept eating cucumber sushi rolls for the entire holy 3hrs =P. We spent like 2hrs chatting, and getting updates on everyone. Apparently lots of us are going to England. => After lunch, we just walked around the place. I bought some skin/facial care stuff to bring over to England. Well, cold weather, I bet my skin would go really dry. We left the mall at bout 5pm-ish, and Yen Kheng came over to my place for a couple of minutes, to look see/see look my new house. That’s how my Sunday went by. Pretty enjoyable, but tiring as well.

I’m gonna start packing my luggage tomorrow.. I guess…
