Kobe beef ( ̄¬ ̄)

I came across this article in BBC.co.uk

‘Most expensive sandwich’ on sale

The McDonald sandwich comes with a £85 price tag, filling mainly made up of Kobe beef.

£85! that’s like RM600! O_o.. I think the most expensive sandwich I’ve ever seen cost about RM20. But come to think of it, it’s Kobe beef, prolly worth it ;p. The last time I had Kobe beef was in Nihonkai<日本海>

oh my god!

The more I talk bout this, the more I feel like returning home >.<

I received another package from mom & sis this morning, my CNY gifts! T-shirts, I <3 T-shirts..

This 1 is a cutie =D

Valentine’s Day

Geoff treated me to V-day dinner at Rock.n’Amigos. Dinner was like usual, fantastic! おいしかったにゃー~(=^・・^)ノ>°)##)彡 We got there about 6.05pm, reservation was at 6.00pm, 5m late, eek. The restaurant was rather empty, I was surprised, in KL everywhere get filled up quickly. Geoff ordered the same stuff, steak fajitas, and I ordered Mexican Chicken, starter was nachos as usual.

Food was served rather quickly, probably because there weren’t many ppl yet.

nachos1.jpg nachos.jpg

Nachos topped with melted cheese, yum! Geoff always picked the nachos which were covered with cheese and left the un-cheesed nachos to me (●`ε´●) ぶー.

Steak fajitas *yum*

ju-dinner.jpg mexican-chicken.jpg

My meal (^^) Mexican Chicken - Chicken was cooked just right, juicy and sweet. One of my favourite in Rock.n’Amigos.

We usually stop ordering at this point, but since it’s Valentine’s Day, we had desserts as well. Geoff had Grandmom’s Apple Pie & I had Chocolate Brownie.

chocolate-brownie.jpg brownie_close.jpg

This was REALLY GOOD! Very chocolatish but not very sweet! I <3 it! ( ~ё ̄) -☆ However, I didn’t mange to finish it, u know brownies are filling. Felt a little sad that half of it went to waste “(ノ_・、)” at the same time I didn’t wanna force my stomach.

At the end of the meal, we were given 2 heart shaped chocolates ^^)v

receipt.jpg

Overall, food was good, even tho it wasn’t something new to me. That’s probably my 5th time or so dining in Rock.n’Amigos but who cares right, good food > new environment.

As for me, I got him a new car stereo for his V-day gift.

His current player is locked, after he replaced the old car battery with a new 1. Some code is needed to unlock the player, and since this car is a 2nd hand car, he doesn’t know the code and has no choice but to buy a new player. This stereo actually cost £99 but he had £50 vouchers from his ex-colleagues before he left the job, so I just paid £49 ^^) It’s a good bargain I’d say. We saw some other cool players by Pioneer, Sony, LG and stuff but they’re so expensive, I think more expensive that Malaysia. I don’t know where is the origin of Ripspeed, but it seems like a big company manufacturing lots of car accessories/parts.

お弁当

I made some onigiri and tamagoyaki for my obento^^). Tamagoyaki turnd out loose, so I didn’t take a pic of it ;p

onigirismall.jpg

Bought some cubed miso soup paste from tesco the other day, haven’t tried it yet, prolly will for dinner tomorrow.

It’s Valentine’s Day (*^・^)CHU~☆ Going to have Mexican food in Rock & Amigos tonight for dinner, rather simple Valentine’s Day for me, but it doesn’t bother me at all ^^), coz I <3 Mexican food! Fajitas, nachos (^¬^)うまそ~ As for this morning, I had sausage barm for breakfast, bought from the petrol station near my house. Cost about, £1.30 ( ̄~ ̄) モグモグ

Time to go now ;D HAPPY VALENTINE’s DAY!

Cleaning/Stocking-up day

As usual, we spent Saturday to tidy up the mess, stocked up food supplies etc etc. Headed to Durham coz Geoff needed to grab his university files from his parents’ place, and we dropped by Brewers Fayre Restaurant in Broomside Park for dinner. Very poshie restaurant like Victoria Station in KL, prolly posher.

brewers-frayer.jpg

I had Haddock + new potatoes + salad, and Geoff had lamb + potatoes + nachos. My plate cost about £8, and his cost bout £12. Come to think of it, £8 = RM56, which is probably about RM20 more expensive than Manhattan’s Fish Market. Isn’t too bad, I’d say but orange juice was whoopie £2. Sorry no pictures of what we ordered ;p as you can see Geoff’s mobile wasn’t doing a good job in taking larger pictures and I left my mobile in the car.

After dinner, we went to Tesco, bought lots of stuff, 8xpork sirloin for £5, 4xchicken thighs & 4xchicken drumsticks for £3, 2pieces of salmon for £4, washing tablets, bleach, containers, milk, brie cheese, cookies, fish&chips+toad in the holex3+curry rice for £4 kitchen towels, aluminium foil, orange juice, apple juice, DVDs, cough syrup etc etc. I have fallen ill again, this is the 2nd time in like 3months! I couldn’t sleep all night, coughing was keeping me up.

cough-syrup.jpg

I hope with the power of this cough syrup, I’d get some deep sleep tonight.

messy.jpg

Back at home, see that pile of laundry, it’s gone now! We were out of washing tablets, so it was piled up in the living room waiting to be thrown into the washing machine.

board.jpg

Geoff’s to-do-list since last week.

jigsaw.jpg

1000x pieces of jigsaw puzzle, bought in Christmas season, took us 1month+ to finish it ;p

soup.jpg

Mom sent me packets of herbs last year. Took 2 1/2hrs to boil this soup, herbs+chicken. I had about 4bowls now. Hope my immune system would be strengthen-hate getting sick here, the air is too dry and it’s tickling my throat.

hoover.jpg

We bought a new bagless hoover from Currys, for £40. There are lots of fancy hoovers in the store costing up to £200! I needa bring my mom there when she comes, some hoovers look so futuristic, some sorta R2D2-ish design ;D

To Durham with Sheryl LLJ

Sheryl was eager to go to Durham probably because I was telling how beautiful Durham is ( ̄▽ ̄). Here are some pictures she snapped, once again I forgotten to bring my camera! Why did I even buy a camera when I don’t remember bringing all the time! (●`ε´●)

Thx to Sheryl LLJ for the pics ;)

To Durham again

We headed into Durham city for a little shopping and like usual treat ourselves to ol-yummy-Mexican food. Nachos + cheddar cheese ヽ(´ー`)丿 chicken fajitas *slurp*. I always forgot to take pictures, I promise I will next time!  I just managed to take some low-mp-night-pictures of Durham.

durham.jpg

A view of Durham city from Wharton Park.  The castle & cathedral is clearly seen from here. Boy I love this city, it’s so different from Sunderland.

durham1.jpg

I somehow came across this pic in my folder, was taken during Christmas season. This is Durham city, near Rock & Amigos, the Mexican restaurant we frequent. The building on the left is Gala cinema, looks poshie huh? According to Geoff, Durham is becoming poshie lately, houses and stuff are getting expensive here.

durhambridge.jpg

Elvet Bridge at night, lots of pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops around this area.

Geoff bought me this pair of fluffy boots from barratts  (*^・^)CHU~☆

Sick before Christmas

For the past 3days Geoff & I have been lying on the bed, yes we’ve both fallen ill at the same time. It’s probably becoz we were caught under the rain after dinner on Saturday + the amount of chocolates that we took.. eek. Anyway, we’re both feeling much better now, fit to get back to work. Geoff brought me to Dynasty Buffet in Durham on Saturday for some Chinese buffet. Food was… well made for the English =p nothing like what we have back in Asia but nonetheless it was still worth the money. £9 eat all u can, with over 30choices, that’s pretty damn good I’d say. My favourite dish was this crispy sweetened seaweed. I don’t know how they made it, but I’m guessing they just dump a whole lot of sugar on the seaweed and fried them slowly. Out of the 30+ dishes served there, only about 10% were vegetable based. Others were like black pepper chicken/beef, mushroom beef/chicken, ginger beef/chicken + lots of spring rolls, they even served fried spring roll wraps, ewk.. just fried wraps w/ nothing in it.. ugh.. Geoff likes it tho =p

We’ve been putting up Christmas decorations bits by bits, spent a lot on Christmas stuff as well, think we spent like £180 the other day… ugh.. Christmas. Anyway, we’re working on the decos, not too great yet, need more snowsprays

xmas2.jpg

Brand new Christmas tree is up. Well, ignore the cheapy legs and pathetic mini angel on top of the tree. I chose the angel, thot it looked cute and fluffy, but it didn’t go so well with the tree.

xmas.jpg

Now, walaa the real Christmas tree, Geoff replaced the angel with the squishy boink-ish star, hm.. looks a little silly imo.

xmas1.jpg

We’re working on the balcony. We are planning to fill this part with all the decos we have, seeing that this bit of the room faces the main street, everyone will be seeing our windows when entering the street ;)

windows.jpg

I printed a snowflake story on this window, *snowman was angry of the x’mas tree which grew in front of his house blocking the feng shui, so he took a broom out n swept the tree off =P*

clock.jpg

The wall clock needs some deco too, well Geoff said that.

We stopped working on the decos for now, seeing that we’re both ill. Wind is extremely strong outside, and I have to crawl to school tomorrow. My throat still hurts, and I’m still having a slight headache, hope everything will be fine by tomorrow morning. It’s getting late so I’m off to bed.

Malaysian society gathering

The whole bunch of us including the odd Geoff attended a gathering organised by the Malaysian Society. It was just a rather simple dinner in Leisure Centre, pretty much like Chinese styled restaurant, few round tables-a stage.. Tbh, we were there for the food only. Well, we paid £4 for registration, we’re obviously not there for the performances, what else do u think we, poor students were there for =P. Both Sheryls, Sarav n I had our plates piled up =P.. The food was so so, obiviously not as good as back home, but still edible.. Performance was.. I don’t know lol.. the stage was kinda pathetic..  then they had some games, just like the usual gathering agenda. We left rather early.. like 10pm-ish.. Went to look for a pub to play pool. Jesus christ, pubs here r like Canteena =P Old-man pubs… we passed by The Point, we wanted to go out, but Geoff doesn’t like clubbing, so we ended up in Sunderland.. something.. Sunderland Bistro or something.. That pub *bleh* was pretty much like Coliseum back in KL. Too bad I didn’t manage to take any pictures, due to the fact that I do not have a camera =(

I’ve been scoping around for digital cameras lately. Check this out Fuji Finepix S5700, 10x optical zoom =O 7mp, for just RM700 + delivery! =P well slightly cheaper than Malaysia, I think this camera costs about RM1000. So certain things like mobile phones r cheap that’s if u sign contract which isn’t very beneficial to us 1-year student. Food, no way… shirt, winter wear yes.. strawberries? definitely. I bought 2 boxes of strawberries for £1 this morning ;)

I went to the Chinese shop again after class.. well it’s actually called Aroma.. something lol, we called it the Chinese shop. Bought chinese soy sauce, sweet n sour sauce + black thick sauce.. for £3. Gonna fry rice sometime soon. I’m definitely improving in cooking. These are what I’ve made for the past few days.

steak.jpg

2 sirloin steak for £5 in Tesco. Bought some seasoning to marinate the steak + potatoes. Walaa, a perfect meal.. ish.. Geoff said it was really good.. I like bloody medium rare steak, this was bloodless well-cooked steak =/

sushi.jpg

First attempt on making sushi. Turned out ugh, the rice was too soft again.. What is wrong w/ the rice cooker!! I guess this time, I’m just gonna put 1table spoon of water for 2cups of rice. HMFT! The egg however was good, =D I kinda like it, I’m gonna try to make more n put in the fridge for breakfast =>

Then yesterday, went over to Sheryls’ place to eat nasi lemak. That was how we celerated our Hari Raya. The rice turned out pretty ok, the curry was like Chinese styled watery curry ahaha, but nonetheless still a perfect meat. After that, Geoff n I went over to his parents’ place, coz his dad needed help to get his laptop connected to the router. So, it’s Mr.Wade’s birthday on the 22nd. =D Going out for dinner.. yey yey!!

Now I’m gonna prepare dinner, just boring hamburger + chips. Toodles

Made my first plate of rice today.

Used my brand new rice cooker for dinner tonight. I bought 2 cans of processed food from Tesco earlier, Irish stew beef & Curry chicken. Well, everything was simple to make, just dump rice + water into the rice cooker + heat those canned food. I added some potato to my curry. However…. I put too much water along w/ the rice =/ rice turned out extremely soggy.. ewk =( I didn’t wanna waste a single grain of rice, so I forced everything down, and Geoff found the meal pretty good.. O.o

currydinner.jpg

And check this out, Geoff brought home a big bag of crisps from work yesterday. 26packs of assorted crisps for £1.20! bloody cheap eh!? 0.04p for 1 pack =P

walkers.jpg

HorraY! TNT parcel from home

Boy I <3 Mom n Sis! *hugs* They sent a 20kg parcel to me last week consisting 2x packs of Milo, lots of Korean instant noodle, Panasonic rice cooker (the new technology 1), my lab coat, 2ring files, big bag of rice, and my Microbiology book. OMG OMG! I missed Milo so much! The moment I opened the parcel, I made myself a cup of Milo.. *slurp.  Everything was in pretty good shape except for the rice of bag, somehow the bag was tore and I had to scoop grains of rice from the carpeted floor.. tedious >.<;;

I wanted to make sushi for dinner yesterday, but there wasn’t salmon nor any sort of raw materials.. so I made roasted chicken + roasted potatoes + steamed carrot/brussels sprout. Hey, not bad for a beginner right.. maybe I’m starting to express my mom’s gene.. =P

dinnergeoff.jpg

Geoff’s dinner without roasted chicken sauce.

Mine with sauce+onions

ship.jpg

Some boring ship, yawn…

Everyday I’ve been waiting to see Queen Elizabeth 2 docking in front of my apartment but to no avail. I missed the chance to see her once when she docked here for a couple of minutes last week when I was in university =(.
