Study + Play = Me

Just downloaded L’Arc~en~Ciel’s  latest single, My heart draws a dream.. was pretty good, but like what Geoff said, it’s the same old typical laruku-sorta song. O and I heard from my friend that they’re going to perform in Mexico..O.o GrR! When r they going to perform where I am! I waited for 3years when I was back in Malaysia, and now I’m all the way in the other side of the globe hoping to see them perform here, but no! =( o well, one day I’ll step foot into Japan I guess.

Ppl who knows me know that I’m pretty much into concerts, well of course not just hoolaa-beeloo’s concert.. I only attend quality concerts =p cough, ahem.. bands that I like, and lucky me, most of my favourite bands are English bands =D. yeye, I know I’m here to study.. not to enjoy.. >.<; but hey, all work and no play makes JU a dull girl! agree? Next week, there’s a tour by the University to Beamish.. where the hell is that? Beamish is North England’s open air museum, located in county Durham. It costs £8 to go for gold-card members, £12 to be a member. Well, I’m intending to go but I haven’t paid for my card.. reason? Coz my damn cash/debit card hasn’t arrived ie I-am-broke. I wonder what’s taking Barclays so long to send my card over.. geezz..

I haven’t been taking lunch in quite a while, prolly for like a couple of days. Imagine if Geoff wasn’t here.. O.o Juppie would have died in starvation.. >.<;; + I need to stop shopping for clothes xD. I’ ve been grabbing cheap autumn/winter wear lately.. like £3 for a top.. £20 for a coat or so.. The other day Geoff brought me to Next… Next is like the branded boutique here, unlike the one in KL. Well, u know me.. I never looked at price when shopping in KL.. had my dear..cough.. mom by my side.. =X and I bought a long sleeve shirt + jacket.. shirt cost £12 O.o and jacket was like £50 or so… That’s like RM400 or so.. meh still cheaper than winter clothings in KL. Then the following day Sheryl brought me to Peacocks, saw long sleeve shirts there for £6 ea! half of what I bought! damn… =/ It’s like, I complained so much bout £4 lunch meal but not £12 shirt..bleh >.<

No more shopping for me, unless I feel the need to.. since winter isn’t here yet, I do not know how cold it could get in January. Probably need to wrap myself up or hibernate at home.. So that’s that bout the fun bit.. Now the study bit.. I’ve been studying quite seriously despite just being my 3rd week in uni. Im gonna start gathering info for my project. We were given few titles for our final year project. I submitted the titles which interest me to Keith. Hope I get what I want.. Btw, Keith is my personal tutor/lecturer. Well, if I was still in KL I’d prolly address him as Dr. Keith. But apparently it’s weird to address ppl politely here, so Keith it is. Even when addressing Geoff’s parents.. I used to call them Mr/Mrs Wade… *no such thing as auntie/uncle here*.. they were like, na just call us by our names… hm.. feels weird.. but I shall go w/ the flow eh.

Woops, Geoff is almost home, gonna prepare dinner now. I’ve been having dinner at around 5-6pm lately =D healthy eh! Gonna make sushi tonight! Ganbatte to myself. Toodles~

Made my first plate of rice today.

Used my brand new rice cooker for dinner tonight. I bought 2 cans of processed food from Tesco earlier, Irish stew beef & Curry chicken. Well, everything was simple to make, just dump rice + water into the rice cooker + heat those canned food. I added some potato to my curry. However…. I put too much water along w/ the rice =/ rice turned out extremely soggy.. ewk =( I didn’t wanna waste a single grain of rice, so I forced everything down, and Geoff found the meal pretty good.. O.o

 

And check this out, Geoff brought home a big bag of crisps from work yesterday. 26packs of assorted crisps for £1.20! bloody cheap eh!? 0.04p for 1 pack =P

HorraY! TNT parcel from home

Boy I <3 Mom n Sis! *hugs* They sent a 20kg parcel to me last week consisting 2x packs of Milo, lots of Korean instant noodle, Panasonic rice cooker (the new technology 1), my lab coat, 2ring files, big bag of rice, and my Microbiology book. OMG OMG! I missed Milo so much! The moment I opened the parcel, I made myself a cup of Milo.. *slurp.  Everything was in pretty good shape except for the rice of bag, somehow the bag was tore and I had to scoop grains of rice from the carpeted floor.. tedious >.<;;

I wanted to make sushi for dinner yesterday, but there wasn’t salmon nor any sort of raw materials.. so I made roasted chicken + roasted potatoes + steamed carrot/brussels sprout. Hey, not bad for a beginner right.. maybe I’m starting to express my mom’s gene.. =P

Everyday I’ve been waiting to see Queen Elizabeth 2 docking in front of my apartment but to no avail. I missed the chance to see her once when she docked here for a couple of minutes last week when I was in university =(.

Back from Sunday dinner

yum! I *heart* Sunday dinner at Geoff’s parents’ place. Beef-mashed potato-broccoli-carrot-beans-yorkshire pudding + gravy as main course, and dessert was profiteroles + milk + chocolate & trifle. *slurp*  I met Mark’s gf, she’s Irish, Kristy, she’s a lovely lady, was talking to me a lot and she loves Cantonese food =D. Dinner was as great as usual, Geoff’s mom was talking to me a lot as well, she was like “come over anytime u feel like to, and if u do need help don’t be shy to ask” ^^) Feels very warm, lots of hugging and kissing too, something which I’ve never done back in homecountry, Asians r shy I guess. As we were talking, his mom asked whether am I coping alright, then I went “yea very well, apart from when Geoff bullies me” Then she went, “ahh.. the Wades, slap him if he does that again” =D

Oh n Geoff’s parents are coming over to our place sometime soon, hm.. I need to learn to cook some Chinese food, coz she wanted to try them.. hm.. tuff task =X.. need help from mom XD.. Then there was a part where they were talking bout grandchildren, I was somehow lost. The conversation started when Geoff’s mom said she would like to have grandchildren soon.. then Geoff went, “What are you talking about, we’ve started trying already”. Geoff’s mom was like O.o… “u serious, u’re not kidding right?”. Then she looked at me, .. I was like blur.. I didn’t understand bit of it, and I went saying “maybe..”..  Then his mom’s eyes went even wider O.O… lol.. grandchildren… hm too soon =P …

Erm… we didn’t do much next.. We left the place kinda early, like right after dinner.. Coz Geoff had some work to do, and I needed to study.  Since I didn’t have Immunology back when I was in UCSI, I’m doing some self studying.. I couldn’t understand a thing Dr. Anne was teaching on Friday =( pretty frustrating to be honest. So I borrowed like 4books from the library, and hoping that I’d understand her lecture next week.

K time for bed now, have to go in early tomorrow, and electrician coming in the afternoon to fix non-working lights in house.

Beach Outing

Weather has been really good for the weekend. It’s like 15C sunny. Geoff and I went to the beach yesterday and today which was just 15m walk away. Yesterday we walked to the beach from our place, we basically climbed down to the rocky area, coz the tide was low yesterday. Pretty adventurous huh? We could have followed the cycling path, but Geoff wanted to climb down.. And today, we were being lazy so we drove to the beach which took us like.. 5m or so.. Lots of ppl at the beach, and lots of cute dogs too. I was telling Geoff that I wanted a small puppy when I get a job next time, he was like “No, I want a big dog” >.> meh him

And today we did a little more, Geoff wanted to dive in the sea, but failed miserably coz the water was freezing cold n then we did…. frisbee! Man we sucked in it =P + the wind was too strong… well, if the weather ain’t acting up next week, we’ll go down again for some frisbee practices.

My messy apartment

I took some time off to snap some photographs of my apartment. It’s pretty messy.. o well I’ll clean it in the weekend.

The door on the right is the entrance. Up ahead on the left leads to the living room, and the one on the right is the bathroom. The picture on the wall is bought from Tesco for.. £30 whoopdidoo

That’s my computer on the dining table. There isn’t a place for me to have a study desk, so screw the dining table. There’s Geof’s mini tv, we didn’t apply license for it, so the tv is just there for DvD and Xbo360.

This is obviously the kitchen. Very well furnished, oven, washing machine, fridge, microwave bla bla..  I’m not quite familiar with that sorta washing machine. The one I have back at home is digital, just press Start n wallaa, it works on its own.

This is my bedroom! ^^ messy bed =P.. on the right(not in picture) is just a stretch of dressing table, too small to be my study desk. This room is always very cold coz the radiator is spoilt! =(

This weekend, we’ll be going to Ikea to buy table lamp and prolly something else if we can fit them in Geoff’s mini.

Sister’s Birthday Party & My Farewell Party

Yesterday was a blast! My house was totally packed w/bout 30+ ppl who were here for my sis’s birthday + my farewell party. Well, my sister’s birthday is on the 17th, but she decided to have an early party before I leave. Most of my relatives were here including my cousin brother, Chai Ween, who just came back from Ireland. My friends were just Kevin, Ming and Emily. Oh and not forgetting Kok Beng. A friend whom I’ve not seen for 12years. We used to play together a lot when he was 7, I was 9 at that time. It’s good to meet up with friends whom I’ve not seen in ages, but it’s kinda depressing  at the same time.. since I’m leaving, so there isn’t any chance for me to spend more time with them.. =( Leona was supposed to come, but she couldn’t seem to get a day off from her dad or something. I’m pretty much saddened by that =( Well, I’ve not seen that girl in ages, and she’s my close friend since high school. Kinda miss her to be honest and not forgetting Charissa =( sad that my close friends are not here to hang out with me before I leave.

Anyways, *wipes tears* The entire party was tiring, the food was fantastic. Barbaque was sucky, like usual. It was firstly just barbaque, but mom decided to cook so everyone ended up just eating mom’s food. Barbaque was left for the flies.. >.> 

I didn’t get a chance to try every dish that my mom cooked, was pretty busy serving guests + entertaining my little nieces. The whole thing ended about 11-ish, did some cleanups, and played a bit of Xbox 360, took some pictures with Kev, Ming and Emily before heading out to eat Sai mai loh in SS2. 

=P yeye, I know I looked silly, was promoting my mom’s fried wanton. We took that pic in the kitchen, that’s actually a reflection on my mirrored refrigerator.

I got home bout 3am after the yumcha session. Kev stayed over night in my place coz we had another gathering the day after with Billy and Yen Kheng. He’s pretty lucky, he got the largest space + largest TV in the house that night. Yep, u guessed it right, the living hall =P Hey, who wouldn’t want to have a free security guard, even if it’s just for 1 night. As for me, I went to bed like 3.30am-ish, and my baka woke me up at 4 something ish. I missed him a lot, wish he was here to celebrate with me, would make everything more meaningful. I talked to him for a couple of minutes and I fell asleep =X yeye, I’m a pig.. oink.

The next day, Billy woke me up and I was like, o crap I’m late. Rushed to get ready and stuff just to find Kev was still taking his shower.. It was 11.30 at that time, and we’re supposed to meet up at 11.00am >.>. Reached 1U, Yen Kheng & Billy were already waiting for us. Had lunch buffet in Shogun. Wow, there were so many various Japanese dishes, for just $55, it’s so worth it IMO. If only Geoffy was there, he would have just kept eating cucumber sushi rolls for the entire holy 3hrs =P. We spent like 2hrs chatting, and getting updates on everyone. Apparently lots of us are going to England. => After lunch, we just walked around the place. I bought some skin/facial care stuff to bring over to England. Well, cold weather, I bet my skin would go really dry. We left the mall at bout 5pm-ish, and Yen Kheng came over to my place for a couple of minutes, to look see/see look my new house. That’s how my Sunday went by. Pretty enjoyable, but tiring as well.

I’m gonna start packing my luggage tomorrow.. I guess…

Goodbye dear uncle

I heard from mom that Uncle Chin passed away 2days ago. Mom said he was feeling ill but didn’t wanna consult a doctor. In the afternoon of  the 4th, he vomitted blood in bed and was pronounced dead shortly after. What causes it? I have no clue, mom didn’t ask much but I suspect it’s lung cancer, seeing that he was a heavy smoker. He will be remembered in this mortal world and I hope he finds peace in the afterworld m(_ _)m

My apartment

So, I sent my diagram to Geoff, and obviously he complained a lot.

He was complaining that the wardrobe capacity allocated for him was too small, stain on his desk n bla bla bla. =p And what’s with English houses. Just 1 toilet O.o? How if both needed to use it at the same time. We gotta do rock,paper,scissors >.> And huge empty lobby for no reason which will be turned into a dining hall. Sofa facing cabinets instead of the TV. I guess the cabinets are nicer to watch ey. And the top left, the black-hole, if you’re thinking it’s a trash hole, nop, it’s a pillar apparently. A pillar in a middle of a compartment, that’s what I called weird. The weirdest bit is that there are seats around it. lol Pole-dance anyone?

So that pole dance bit is the extended part. And I just found out that there’s only 1 lot per floor. Unlike apartments here, bout 8 lots per floor.  So the lot that we got has an extended area. Pretty sexy eh. And behind the building is the sea. =O sunrise n sunset xD! YEY! Hm.. but why is the frontyard so messy.. =/

Apartment in England

I was bored just now, so I came up with my imaginary home. Well, Geoff did describe bits and pieces to me, but it was unclear. So I’m trying to put them together and draw it out.

After looking at it for a couple of mins, the picture came out pretty ridiculous.. =< Bathroom way too huge, balcony seems so small. But I was too lazy to edit it, so.. I think it should look a little like this. The apartment is fully furnished, apart from the desks. There are 2 balconies apparently facing the sea. YEY! And I’m just paying 250pounds per month. Residential hall costs up to that as well but it comes with a small room, a kitchen which is shared by 6rooms, toilet shared by 6rooms.  

The only thing I’m worried of is transportation to school. Well, during autumn,summer n spring it should be ok, but in winter… I don’t wanna walk out of the house in such freezing  cold weather. Others r staying in residential hall which is just… erm 5-10m walk away from campus. My place is near the riverside campus, but my school is in the city. So I have to take a bus or taxi or maybe get Geoff to fetch me from time to time. Plus, I’m lazy.. I’ve been schooling for more than 15years and I can “proudly” say that I’ve never taken public transport to school before =X

Oh well, hey I can’t be lazy forever.. In Malaysia it is excuseable since the public transport sux n not to mention the elavated crime rate over the years. When I get to England, everything has to be done by myself, no more mommy’s girl, that’s what Geoff calls me all the time. yeye, I’m relying a lot on mom. Hey, which mom doesn’t like her daughters to be a mommy’s girl eh.
